Most of the commonly asked questions are below but if you have others please just ask!

Q. What are the terms and conditions for renting a bike from OZRIDER?
A. Our Terms and Conditions are explained on our website or found in the document 'TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR RENTING WITH OZRIDER'.

Q. OK I'll read the Terms and Conditions... But what are the minimum age and licence requirements for renting a bike or participating on a tour with OZRIDER?
A. Motorcycle hirers must hold a current foreign, International or unrestricted Australian Motorcycle licence and be over the age of 25 years. Tour participants riding their own bikes must be older than 18yrs or have parental/guardian permission to ride on the tour and hold the relevant licence for the capacity of their bike.

Q. What are the OZRIDER office opening hours?
A. Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm. Sunday by appointment only.

Q. Where is the depot, what's the easiest way to get to it and can I collect from the airport?
A. The depot is located at 269 New Line Rd DURAL, NSW 2158. Dural is a suburb of Sydney about 35 - 40 minutes from the CBD or airport. For short term daily rentals or weekend rentals we can arrange a shuttle or Taxi from either the airport or city centre. For longer rentals we can pick you up from the airport or CBD free of charge.

Q. Is there any decent accommodation near the depot?
A. Yes we are actually associated with Sydney’s Top Tourist Holiday Park and can easily arrange accommodation or provide you with your first and/or last nights’ accommodation in a three to four star cabin FREE of charge if your booking is for two weeks or longer. If flying long distance you should have a night's rest before collecting the bike.

Q. Are the bikes insured?
A. The short answer is yes. Our bikes are fully insured for use on Gazetted roads within Australia. It may be a condition of use that you agree not to take some bikes off road or onto roads with an unsealed surface however.

Q. Does OZRIDER offer one way rentals?
A. Yes we do for rentals over seven days... And for bookings of twenty days or longer, we will not charge you for a relocation fee as long as the bike is dropped off at our designated depot in Brisbane or Melbourne. Unfortunately a fee of $500 will be charged for returns from Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and Cairns unless we have found a return rental from these cities prior to your dropping the bike off. Dropping a bike off in any other location will incur a relocation fee of between $400 and $600. Hey! Australia is a BIG country :)

Q. Does OZRIDER offer a familiarity tour or ride for clients who are used to riding on the opposite side of the road?
A. Yes we can and do as a matter of course. This might be a simple ride around the block at no charge or a full days Sydney Highlights tour with you following one of our experienced tour guides for an additional fee (see fee's and charges).

Q. Can I leave luggage with OZRIDER during my trip and/or what if I need to ship some of my stuff on to meet up with me in another city?
A. You are welcome to leave your excess luggage in our store during your trip and there is no charge. We'd also be pleased to arrange shipping to your drop off if you are finishing in another city. Shipping charges are at our cost price.

Q. What licence do I need and what else should I bring when collecting the bike?
A. Basically you must hold a valid licence for the capacity of the bike you are renting. We also ask that you have relevant experience on a similar bike and some age conditions do apply. A licence written in English or International licence written in English will be needed as part of your identification when you come to pick up the bike. You will also need your passport if from overseas and a VISA or MasterCard for the rental payment and security deposit. Don't forget to bring the booking confirmation with the address and telephone number of our OZRIDER office!

Q. What is the security bond and insurance excess?
A. The security bond is processed on your credit card and refunded upon safe return of the undamaged bike. The insurance excess is the most you would have to pay in the event of an accident. So if the damage is only minor, for example, then that's all you pay but if the damage is higher than the excess and the excess is only AU$4,000, then you would only be liable for AU$4,000 and the insurance covers the remainder. You can reduce the excess considerably by an additional AU$20 per day.

Q. Can I rent a GPS/SatNav for my trip?
A. NO NEED! WE will supply you with a Garmin Zumo as part of your overall rental. Naturally this is subject to a security deposit against theft or damage.

Q. Can I use a Satellite phone or Spot Messenger In Australia?
A. Yes you can. We can rent you a SPOT Messenger for a small fee (subject to a security deposit) for you additional breakdown or emergency protection. If you wish to travel the outback we can also arrange rental of a satellite phone for the duration of your rental.

Q. Can I rent a helmet and other riding equipment?
A. We can provide good quality helmets & gloves (included free for the rider) and textile jackets & trousers and boots can all be rented, however if you are on a longer trip it is often more comfortable to bring your own and they might fit better. No guarantees are made for riding gear and it is rented at your own risk. Prices can be seen at the bottom of the our rental page

Q. Are locks supplied?
A. Yes. A lock is supplied and should be used every time you leave the bike

Q. Will my mobile phone work in Australia and will I be able to get a signal
A. Check with your phone company to see if they can turn on roaming allowing you to use your phone here. It may be cheaper to buy a SIM card from one of the three main providers (Telstra, Optus and Vodafone) for your phone here (mobile phone shops are everywhere and SIM cards start at AU$30). Mobile phones obtain a signal in almost all towns but outside of towns it can be patchy. In most outback areas it can be many hundreds of kms between towns and no signal will be received here.

Q. What happens if I break down?
A. Our aim is to keep you riding and OZRIDER will provide you with a National roadside assist number. But first you should try and talk to us in the office in case it is something simple we can help you fix over the phone. The best solution to a serious problem depends on where you are and what the problem is. OZRIDER will do everything it can to get you moving again and this is usually within 24 hours. However It may involve a repair, replacement bike or alternative transport but the priority is to allow you to continue your trip. Specific terms and conditions apply to Self Guided Tours including accommodation.

Q. What if I get a parking ticket, speeding fine or other traffic infringement notice?
A. Most of the time you will know if you are getting a ticket or are in trouble with the law. However in Australia there are also speed and red light cameras. In some states they even have hidden cameras so you may not know you have received a fine until we get a notice in the mail. Whereas you will be required to pay the fine, we will not slug you for a fee to process this when we send it on... Hey! We are probably feeling sorry for you at about this time :) Lastly… Never offer an Australian policeman a bribe. It will only land you in trouble.

Q. If I am hiring the bike for a trip which I expect is longer than 10,000km's, what about servicing and tyres?
A. If you are hiring a bike for a long period and expect to travel a long way then you must agree to have the bike serviced somewhere along the way. We will help you plan and arrange for this. In addition we will replace tyres that are fully worn (we will agree upfront with you on the life of the tyre before you leave our depot) and provided you contact us before replacing the tyres and you can provide us with receipts and documentation from the tyre provider, this should be covered by OZRIDER.

Q. How do we get this booking started?
A. Basically, we require a non refundable AUD$200.00 minimum or 10% deposit to firm your booking. However, we want to make this as painless as possible so for long term bookings over two weeks, so we send you a bunch of stuff including a T-Shirt, OZRIDER Cap and an Australian Motorcycle Atlas to help you plan your trip. Don’t worry… for bookings less than two weeks we will still give you a free Cap and T-Shirt :)

Q. When is FULL payment for my rental required? What about Cancellation?
A. Any booking made within 21 days of collection we require you to pay in full, with the bond and excess payable at time of collection. If you are making your booking many months in advance, we require the $200.00/10% non refundable booking fee at the time of booking, then within 90 days we require 50% of total payment and within 21 days of your booking we require full payment. If you decide between 90 days and 21 days to cancel your booking we will charge you a 20% of total booking cancellation fee. If you decide between 21 days and 7 days prior to the bike collection date to cancel, we will charge you a 50% of total booking cancellation fee. After seven days you will lose 80% of your booking fee. If we chose to provide you with a credit however, the full booking must be paid for and it becomes non refundable. If a credit is asked for and applied within 21 days of your original collection date, a 10% of booking administration fee will be charged on top of your booking. Please note that applying a Credit is at the discretion of OZRIDER and its employees, management or officers.

Q. What about Refunds on any unused portion of the rental and Motorcycle returns?
A. You will find our full cancellation policy in our terms and conditions along with our Privacy Policy along with details on how to return your bike. However, it's a given that the bike must be returned in good condition with no damage. If there is any obvious damage then the bike will be assessed and a deduction from your bond or an excess paid up to the agreed amount. The bike must be returned clean or a cleaning fee of $50.00 will also be charged. The bike must have a full tank of petrol on return or we will charge you $10.00 plus the pump price of the fuel to refill. Normally there is a NO REFUND policy on any unused portion of your rental. In some circumstances however we will offer you a credit to ride another day.
