Who Is OzRider?

Steve Smith aka ‘Steve-Red’ is an avid off-road and all-road rider/tourer. He hasn’t won any races, ridden the Dakar or even attempted the Australian Safari! Albeit he has dreamt about these great races a couple of times and the last time he tried to ride a similar type of off road event, he ended up on his backside and in hospital with a busted leg! Maybe one day he will bore you with his story of riding over three hundred kilometers with a busted ankle and knee fracture, but we will spare you the detail here. He has however been riding bikes since he was about 10 years old. His first bike was a Honda XR75 some time back in the early seventies and Steve still rides big traillies and Dual Sport bikes as well as an evil street bike or two.

Why OzRider?

Well because Steve and a couple of his mates ‘Big Pete’ and ‘Jimmy the Van’ started with a shed full of bikes and figured if they wanted any more bikes they had to convince themselves and their respective missus’s it was a business decision and not just another random unrealistic purchase. And between them they have owned, worked on, ridden or busted just about every bike ever sold in Australia and some that never made it here to OZ. That and they have covered most of Australia and some of the world on bikes or in 4 wheel Drives (and even the odd camel!!) and just love this sunburnt country they call home. So OZRIDER was born out of a passion and a desire to see other people riding and seeing Australia on two wheels… and their love for bikes, bikers and any excuse to lead someone else astray.

So you might call it a mid-life crisis but these guys call it a business they just love to do. Sick of working for a living doing something they couldn’t wait to get home from, these guys kicked off a motorcycle tour and rental company that they could enjoy being a part of. They are real riders with real riding experience and a passion to help you in turn to get a real riding experience. So whether you simply want to rent a motorcycle for a weekend, a week or an extended tour from Sydney to Perth or Darwin and anywhere else around the country, they will do their very best to make your OZRIDER experience a good one.
